Work from home
I have an Xfinity modem in my living room and run an Ethernet cable through my house to connect my laptop in my office as I work from home. Would like to stop connecting that way. Can I have another line installed directly into my office and run a 2nd modem there?

Hey there, user_8m3z6i! Yes, you can get a new outlet installed to have your modem in your office rather than using the long ethernet cable. We'd be happy to help get things all set with you. Please send a direct chat message with your full name and complete service address to “Xfinity Support”. To do so, click on the chat icon located at the top right of this forum's page.
Here are the detailed steps to direct message us:
• Click "Sign In" if necessary

• Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
• Type "Xfinity Support" in the to line and select "Xfinity Support" from the drop-down list
• Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window

Typically they don't allow two separate cable modems at one address. You could get the office wired up with coax and use a MoCA adapter instead. MoCA is an alternate hardwired way to connect devices to a home network if ethernet cabling can not be used/run. It uses the existing coax cable wiring instead of ethernet cabling. You can Google MoCA for more info.
Be advised that the Comcast techs do not do any wall fishing of coax cables (hiding cables internally behind walls). If you want that you will need to hire a local low-voltage electrician, or a company like Hello Tech with which they partner: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/hellotech-overview Comcast will only run coax cable outside and drill a hole through an external wall for the office if there is one. Good luck !
