won't accept network password

My Xfinity wifi was working great up until yesterday. Some of my devices are not recognizing the correct password. A number of devices tell me incorrect password while others are able to connect with the existing credentials. I've confirmed my password is correct in my xfinity account. I've tried rebooting the modem, clearing web cache, forgetting and re-entering network info and resetting individual devices with no luck. I'm using Apple Air Play thru my Apple Time Machine.

I went into the xFinity app and manually split the bands on my network. It now works. Also after deleting the suspect devices and reinstating.  So glad that it worked.  I can usually muddle through such things but this was a real stinker.  Sometimes this networking thing is more voodoo and luck than skill for me.

user_jwgu98, thank you for circling back to let us know this worked for you. Did you plan on keeping the bands split? If you revert to using the same network name and password, do you have the same issue?

Same here, Sunday night gateway did this-WiFi VAP is set to down- Monday morning no Alexa alarm, all cameras offline, all WiFi plugs offline. It’s happened before and I just reconnect, but not this time, all efforts say incorrect password. It’s not ! I gave up to watch tv , Apple TV app says wrong password. All other apps working. I’m calling quantum tomorrow to check them out. This has happened often. Xfinity has got too big and couldn’t care less about customers. Yes I’ve unplugged and-restarted everything , yes I checked to see if wires are tightened. If you figure it post please so I can try

Thank you for letting us know you are also running into a similar issue. Do you by chance have your Wifi networks split with two network names? If so, have you by chance attempted to combine the networks using your advanced settings in the Xfinity app and reset the split bands back up?

@XfinityAmandaB

 I have the same exact issue. I also created a post but have not received any help on the issue.  Here are the details:

For the past 12-18 months, my home network has been working flawlessly. I have an Xfinity XB8 (CGM4981COM) gateway and an xfi pod to ensure full coverage across my wide house; the gateway is on one side and the pod on the other. A significant portion of my network consists of roughly 30 2.4 GHz smart devices (switches, plugs, and light bulbs), which are essential for my son's independence as a paraplegic.

However, over the last week, something has changed with the XB8 gateway. The 2.4 GHz devices that previously connected to XB8 are no longer able to establish a connection. Interestingly, the 2.4 GHz devices on the other side of the house, connected to the xfi pod, are still working perfectly. All 5 GHz and 6 GHz devices continue to connect to the XB8 gateway without any problems. I'm aware that band splitting isn't an option because of the xfi pod setup.

I've already performed multiple reboots of the gateway. Do you have any insights into what might have changed with the XB8 gateway, or what I can do to resolve the connectivity issues for my 2.4 GHz devices?

Oh yeah, one more thing. I also noticed that the port forwarding settings on the XB8 gateway were deleted.  So I am "suspect" that the the 2.4 settings were modified during some update to the XB8 gateway. I have heard rumors that an update occurred recently.

@mike_s6

Thanks for reaching out to us, we do apologize for any inconvenience you're having. With you having our XB8 it comes with the advance gateway settings, so that means your modem will automatically connect that device to the best band coverage.

So it sounds like those 2.4Ghz devices are closer to the Xfinity modem where it wants it then to connect to the 5 & 6Ghz, So with you having the Xfi pods set up yes you don't want to do the band split because that will disable the pods coverage, have you tried moving those devices further away from the modem so they pick about the 2.4 ghz to see if they can still pick up a wireless connection

@XfinityAmandaB  Yes they are split , I see the accepted solution is to split. But you are suggesting I combine . What's the real solution and what happened ? All 2.4 devices started working for a few days , then again all offline , nothing works

rottencompany Thank you for the update. I'm sorry to hear that you are still running into issues keeping those devices connected. Reviewing your initial comment I see you mentioned it's the Alexa's, cameras and Wi-Fi plugs that are going offline. Just to clarify, by Wi-Fi Plugs, do you mean extenders? If those are going offline, it could be affecting the cameras if they rely on that extender to connect to the internet. We may need to change how we are troubleshooting your concern if that is the case.

user_jwgu98 Hello! Thank you for reaching out to us. Are you still having issues with your devices connecting to your in-home network? We suggest forgetting the network on any devices having trouble and then reconnecting. If it's still not working properly, please let us know.

I have the same (or very similar issue). I have narrowed it down to devices that work on 2.4.  All other devices on other bands work fine. I have no idea how to resolve the issue and need it soon. Many of these devices help my son who is a paraplegic be independent.
