Wireless printer won’t connect. Why?

I moved in and everything else connected with few problems. The printer, HP Envy 5530 is the only thing that won’t connect. I have done a hard reboot, software updates, and factory reset. Even took it to a friends house and my parents where it connected both times. Why won’t it connect to this service?

Make sure that your printer is connected to 2.4 Ghz wireless network, because your printer only supports the 2.4Ghz network.

user_aogmqc It sounds frustrating to have everything else working except your printer. Here are a few things you can try to resolve the issue:

  1. Check Wi-Fi Bands: Make sure your router is broadcasting a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi signal, as the HP Envy 5530 only supports this band. If your router uses a combined SSID for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, try splitting them and connect the printer specifically to the 2.4GHz network.

  2. Network Settings: Restore the network settings on your printer and use the Wireless Setup Wizard to reconnect it to your network. This can help if the printer is having trouble recognizing your Wi-Fi.

  3. Router Configuration: Ensure your router is not using any advanced settings that might interfere with the printer's connection. Sometimes, routers with multiple boosters or repeaters can cause connectivity issues.

  4. Manual IP Address: Assign a manual IP address to your printer. This can sometimes resolve connectivity issues by ensuring the printer always uses the same IP address.

  5. Wi-Fi Direct: If all else fails, you can use Wi-Fi Direct to print directly from your devices to the printer, bypassing the router.

If these steps don't work, it might be helpful to contact HP support for further assistance. They can provide more detailed troubleshooting specific to your printer model and network setup.

Let me know if you need any more help or if there's anything else you'd like to discuss!

Please give the exact specific steps to "try splitting them" (the "combined SSID for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz" bands).  I have the exact same problem, and there are no instructions on how to do this "split" operation.  Thanks.

SanCisco It's important to note that if you lease a modem from us and the modem is an XB6 or newer model, these gateways have been upgraded with software that manages advanced WiFi settings automatically to help optimize your home network and provide the best performance possible. Advanced WiFi settings for gateways with this software enhancement are not visible and cannot be managed from the Admin Tool or Xfinity xFi.

If your printer requires this type of accommodation, you may need to look into purchasing your own modem/router so that you are able to split the bands if the printer requires it.

Hp makes a very useful app for windows that will help you easily connect an HP printer, without having to split bands.  It is called HP Smart.  It will find the printer for you.
