Wireless Printer and XB7

I have tried everything suggested, but my older Epson printer obtains ip address of 169.254.x.x subnet 255.255.0.0 and router shows wi-fi address of 10.0.0.x. Worked fine with older modem/router. There must be a solution. Has anyone figured out how to make this router work with older printers?

My older epson works flawlessly with the Xb7, I am guessing you tried to set a manual ip?

Yes I tried manually with 10.0.0.x that xfinity shows as the address, but no go. Also noticed that printer always shows Domain Name as blank.

Hi there @user_4e67a0 thank you for joining us here in the Xfinity Support Forums. The quickest way to connect any wireless printer to the XB7 is by using WPS set-up, though sounds like your printer does not want to talk to the network for some reason. What is the model number of the printer?

This is an Epson NX625. When I run the Wireless LAN setup, it sees the router. Comcast assistant set router up showing SSID2.4 and SSID5.0 in case we were getting a bad connection. The printer is displaying SSID2.4 so it is obviously seeing the router.

Attempted to setup the printer again - same results. Here's a good question - using internet.xfinity.com to look at the wi-fi connections, I see my PC as 10.0.0.71 and the printer as 10.0.0.208, however from the same pc, windows can't see the printer. This must be a comcast/windows 10 issue.

ping replies "destination host unreachable". Its odd that xfinity.com can see the entire wi-fi network, including my PC and the printer, but windows can't "see" the printer. Comcast support did not have any solutions and is sending me the older modem.

Ok, so on mine I have to disable the firewall for my printer to work, don’t know why thst is, also try this, go into settings, printers, remove your printer, then add printer, it will show your same printer, add it, it will configure win 10 for the new Xb7, that worked for me on several printers, also are the pc and printer on the 10.0.0. Subnet? You also might have to reset the printer to factory default settings, because of the failed manual Ip add, not sure tho, also make sure your WiFi connection is set to private, instead of public, if it’s set to public, it won’t let you communicate with printers
