Wireless Internet drops but VOIP still works

I have the comcast router (v7), over the past couple of months the wireless internet will drop but the comcast VoIP phone service still works.  When wireless drops no devices can access the internet.  The first time I called support the tech told me that VoIP service and wireless internet from the router are on two separate networks and that is why the voip still works.  To get the internet back on I have to reboot the router.  Tech support onsite call didn't have an answer other than to hardwire my laptop instead of wireless (and that call cost me $70).  Any ideas on why the internet drops but VoIP doesn't?

I would love to look into the account and see what remote troubleshooting we can do to resolve the issue. I also wanted to make sure you are aware that any time you need to troubleshoot our MyAccount app can assist you step by step. It is not just to pay your bill or to get notifications about interruptions. To learn how to troubleshoot in the future you can follow the link: https://comca.st/3s4Wmc6. Honestly, it is the best app to date that we offer and super easy to use for all of your account needs!
