wireless Connection keeps dropping

I just reestablished service and it took the automated system 3 times to configure the Xfinity gateway.  There is something that rattles in the router too.  My Android devices and a wired connected Roku device work.  My Laptop keeps dropping the connection every 5 minutes or so.  The laptop is a brand new Alienware M18 R2 and was previously working without issue on Verizon Home wireless connection. I dont have an additional router or gateway connected to the xfinity router.  I need a human to check the router to find out what's going on.

user_1dvpe8 Thanks for posting on our Community Forums. I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with your modem, and it sounds like it may be a good idea to swap the equipment. The easiest option is to bring it to a local Xfinity Store where they can provide another one for you and verify no loose parts are inside. We can also ship one to you, though that will take a few additional days before arriving.

I brought the router which was an XB7 to the local store and they replaced it with an XB8 and the new router fixed the issue.
