Wired access point with xb7 gateway
I have an xb7 gateway that is currently providing good wifi coverage throughout my house. However, I have my office in a detached building in the backyard. I am still able to get a wifi signal from the xb7 in the detached office, but it is very weak and inconsistent.
I think what I’d like to do is put a wired access point in the detached office to get consistent and strong wifi out there.
Aside from running Ethernet cable between the buildings, is hooking up an AP as easy as connecting an Ethernet cable into a LAN port on the xb7 into a POE and then out to the AP??
Will I run into anything with competing wifi signals? Double NAT? are there any settings I need to configure on the xb7? Bridge mode?? I’ve read so much about APs at this point I’m just confused. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes. That will work. Ethernet backhaul is a good thing ! Just make sure that the AP is in access point mode and not doing DHCP, and double NAT will not be a factor. You can't put the XB7 in bridge mode because that will disable the WiFi router component of it and you'll lose your good WiFi coverage in your main house.

@user_bys3qj We appreciate you taking the time to reach out to us here on our Xfinity Forums. I'm happy to see that @EG was able to provide an answer. We are only able to offer support for Xfinity products and services, so this would be beyond what we can offer troubleshooting or product support on.

I have the same setup as bys3qj. I picked up an xb8 which I'd like to use as an access point. I have an ethernet cable run to my barn. Comcast will not help me with this configuration. Is there a way to access the xb8 on my xfinity app without it trying to exchange the xb8 for xfinity router in my house? What mode should I put the xb8 in? Thank you.
