WiFi Weak on One Laptop

I'm stumped. I have many devices attached to my Xfinity 1 GB wireless network. One laptop, a Dell Precision, from my work, consistently has speeds of only 30-40 MB. Other devices in my home, including phones and laptops, have speeds in the 300-400 MB range. My cell phone right next to the work laptop is screaming at 350 mb.  

I don't think it's the network adaptor. I bought a USB network adaptor, and it is the same. Also, I logged into my Xfinity gateway and it shows the laptop offline while my Xfinity app shows it as online. Thursday, the laptop network speed was normal and I saw that the Xfinity gateway had it online. Unfortunately, Friday it was back to slow speeds and the gateway saw it as offline.

Any ideas?

Have you also tested your connection via Ethernet to compare? What are your speeds connected directly? 

 

There may be issues with your wireless settings and connectivity.
