Wi-Fi speed

Why am I not getting the contracted Wi-Fi speeds promised by Comcast. Instead of 600 megabytes per second I'm getting 25 to 30 megabytes per second. Both upload and download speeds are less than 1/10 of what Comcast has promised. Can't get an evaluation of this issue buy a higher level technical support despite multiple tickets and many hours on hold with technical support.

FWIW, they don't "contract" / guarantee WiFi speeds. No ISP does. There are too many variables. Only hardwired ethernet connections.

I understand that the contracted speed is an average or estimate delivered to the modem. Since I only have one device less than 10 feet away from the modem, 30 plus speed test over a month an average of 25 megabytes per second on the 5.0 megahertz is definitely less than the supposed 600 megabytes per second quoted.

Try calling 1-800-comcast and ask a rep to completely remove the modem from your account and to "re-provision" it from scratch. Also ask them to confirm that the provisioning and account data in their database is correct and complete and that the correct configuration / bootfile for your subscribed to speed tier is being pushed to the modem.

Good luck !
