WiFi Ping Spikes/Disconnections and Slow Speeds

My internet WiFi randomly gets high ping.  To temporarily resolve the issue i type in the following commands

ipconfig /flushdns

ipconfig /registerdns

ipconfig /release

ipconfig /renew

netsh winsock reset reset.log

netsh int ipv4 reset

netsh int ipv6 reset

When my connection speed falls to ~30-40mps (we pay for 800mps down) I initiate the above steps.  This typically fixes the issue for a few hours, or as long as I keep my computer on.  It does not matter the time of day, if I shut down the computer i often have to repeat the above process, and then get ~200-220mps down, and the ping spikes are gone.

Because initiating these steps invariably fixes the issue, I'm sure it's not an environment issue (ie: being too far away from the router, my wifi is in the next room).

This issue has been going on for months, and the best help Xfinity support has given me is to try and upsell on more speed and more hardware.  More speed is useless when you cannot get a steady connection.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

As a test, does a computer / device that is hardwired directly to the router / gateway device with an ethernet cable have the same problem ?

With this test, we are trying to isolate this down to being either a WiFi-only problem or a problem with the general connection to the Comcast system which would of course affect both. It's a good first step in troubleshooting before proceeding any further.

@EG Hi, thanks for responding.  It's a WiFi only problem.
