wifi not disabled

I have followed the steps from https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/hide-disable-in-home-wifi to disable my home wifi. However after some amount of time (haven't measured it) the wifi becomes enabled again. How can I keep the wifi disabled?

@user_ygwxfk Are you looking to disable the Xfinity WiFi hotspot or your personal in-home network so that only devices that are hardwired directly to your gateway are active?

@XfinityXanadu personal in home wifi. I have my own wifi network I’m using. I have already disabled the hotspot.

If you are using your own router to broadcast the WiFi network you do want to connect to, putting the gateway into bridge mode will only allow for the network that is broadcasting from the router of your choosing and will stop the WiFi network from a gateways internal router.

@XfinityXanadu thanks for your help. If bridge mode is required why isn't that step listed in the doc I linked to?

@user_ygwxfk I am not sure why, were you able to disable your Wi-Fi?

Yes, but as I stated in my original question, it eventually gets re-enabled.
