WiFi connection drops when launching games

Whenever I launch a video game from Steam, within about 1-3 minutes, my wifi connection drops. My PC says it is connected to the wifi, but no internet connection. Has anyone experienced this? I'm going to try to hard wire it in to see if it helps but I'd rather not have to keep it that way.
