WiFi connection drops multiple times of day on my mobile

The wifi connection drops multiple times a day, especially if I am in a room at the other end of the house (50' away) or on the back porch. The distance that the signal goes has decreased considerably. This has been going on for months.

Hello @user_bh3gse, thank you for taking the time to leave a post. Sorry that your Wi-Fi connection has been dropping and the signal range has noticeably decreased. I understand how frustrating it is to experience this for months. We’d be happy to help troubleshoot and determine what may be causing the connection issues. Have you tried any troubleshooting steps already? We want to make sure we don’t have you repeat anything you’ve already done.

I have moved the XB7 dual-band gateway to a higher place, though it is in front of/ close to the TV. There really isn't a better place for me to put it. We'll see how that works.

The interesting thing is that the signal didn't start dropping until this summer. Until then, the signal was strong in all rooms and outside the house.

We can set a reminder to check in tomorrow afternoon to see how everything is working. How does that sound?

I moved the gateway to higher ground. Let's see if that works

The connection still drops when I'm in a room that's about 25-30 feet away and again when I'm out on the back porch. Admittedly, it's not as often, but it does happen daily. Connection used to be just fine in those places.

user_bh3gse Have you recently moved the gateway, or added any other wifi producing devices that aren't part of the original set up when the signal was better? Have there been any new devices added to the home that take up more of the bandwidth of the WiFi? Many things can interfere with signal, and it may just be something simple that can be adjusted.

I moved the gateway higher, and there are no new devices or bandwidth "suckers." Heavens, it won't even go to the driveway or side yard anymore when Wifi used to reach those spots with no problem. It also drops in the back corner (bathroom) of the house, where there were no problems for 10 years.
