Why is Xfinity lately unstable and undependable?

Why has X-finity's service become so undependable?

I live in the north suburbs of the Chicago area. For the last 3 months Comcast has become a yo-yo; up & down. Today is the worst. In the last 30" our service in my home has enabled and disabled 6 times. It will be up 1 minute, then suddenly down for 1 minute. This is not a one-shot deal. This has be going on and off for at least 3 months. I am paying well over $1000 a year for internet access.

Comcast has made it next to impossible to find a direct person to communicate with-at least someone who speaks English enough so I can understand them and knows something more than reading from a script.

Can someone at Comcast tell me why I shouldn't go with AT&T?

Aside from the links, the rest of the suggestions were meant to be read. Good luck with it !

Thanks EGexpert; just to clarify:  I worked in IT for many years, and am Microsoft MCP certified. I did everything from removing virus infections to setting up networks. No, I am not an expert with Comcast infrastructure, but the problem is not on my end.

I have built my own desktop computers for at least 20 years and they are hot machines. I could game with them if I were in to that (I am not, incidentally). If there were any problems with them I would know it in a flash. In addition, I have a source for old laptops that I get free, I refurb them and donate them to the local school for free to give to students that don't have the funds to purchase one. I regularly service (for free) friends and neighbors' computers when they have problems (at no charge). I am over 3000 posts on Bleeping Computer, one of the finest help forums on the internet. And so on....

Additionally, I have a Comcast modem/router (because my wife wants our land-line and internet together for simpler billing processes) and I well-know about a hard reset on the router.

The http links you provided are as follows: the first results in a blank page. The second refuses to recognize my user name. Well, my user name is good because I am here, right?

No, the problem is with Comcast. And now Comcast is going to start data caps???

Thanks again for your reply.

Yes, I know.  It's a shame that Comcast/Xfinity promises an internet paradise in their ads, and now they don't even provide a Comcast rep to help people with problems. At least, in past years, they provided a phone number I could call so that a digital voice could verify they were having problems in the area.

I remember International Harvester; 30/40 years ago it was the largest corporation in the world. If you put GM, Ford and GE together they still would not equal IH. Arrogant SOBs if you had to deal with them. They went down the tubes, and thousands of employees were out of work. They weren't bought-out, they just went dry.

They just got too big for their britches.  Remeber when GM, Chrystler and Ford were arrogant and laughed at those silly little cars that were showing up in America --what was the name?-- Oh, yeah, Toyota. Then in the 80's they went to the government witht their bankrupt hats in hand to beg for a handout. They still haven't recovered.

Oh, well, why am I bothering with this.

Have a good day.
