Why does ARRIS SBG8300 say "incompatible based on filters"?
I bought the ARRIS SBG8300 a while ago because it was on Xfinity's compatible page for 1200mb service. Now it's saying "Incompatible based on filters", why?

Because they now rate it for speeds of only 941Mbps: https://www.xfinity.com/support/devices#details
They upgraded the gigabit speed tier to 1200 Mbps (~1400 with their 20% speed over-provisioning). The 8300 has only 10/100/1000 (gigabit) ethernet ports with which taking into account the inherent ethernet overhead, they will only be able to deliver around 940-950 Mbps.

Thanks for the reinforcement @BruceW ! I posted a screenshot five hours ago but the forum bot marked it as private. I just came back online and realized that so I just now made it public which is why you are seeing it now.

As @EG described above, Comcast's Gigabit service was originally 1.0 Gbps. When they bumped it up to 1.2 Gbps, a number of modems and gateways that had been approved for Gigabit service became disqualified. The difference appears to be the presence of a 2.5 Gbps Ethernet port. Gigabit capable devices that have one are approved for 1.2 service, those that don't are not.
AFAICT Comcast has never explained why they made these changes or why (or even if) the 2.5 Gbps port is required, so this is my best guess. While it would be nice to get a definitive statement from them, don't hold your breath. It's just not their style.
