Why do I keep getting these alerts

I keep getting alerts that a device has connected to my wifi “for the first time” when the device has connected many times in the past. It’s very annoying and makes the alerts very UN-useful.

Thanks.

Thanks for connecting with us here in our community, @Bobo_question, about the Wi-Fi alerts. I can see how this would be very confusing. Have you done any troubleshooting like signing out of the Xfinity app on all your devices? Deleting the Xfinity app and downloading it again? This helps work out some kinks if updates are needed as well.

Thanks for the answering.  The app is only installed on one phone and I'm the only one that uses it.  I have signed out multiple times.  I can reinstall the app if needed but I suspect it's not related to that.  I actually would be ok with "xxx has connected" messages, but the "new device for the first time is what's really annoying".

I’m not sure what solution I’m supposed to be accepting. I got no solution. In fact, today I got one that was either my phone (logged on dozens of times) or our own Mac that is constantly connected to the wifi.

Bobo_question thank you for using the Community Forums page to reach out. I understand you are experiencing ongoing concern with device notifications on your Xfinity network. Do you know if you have the hotspot feature enabled by chance?

There is no hotspot feature enabled, to my knowledge and even if it were, wouldn't it require a password to join?

For the first time, I've received an alert from Xfinity "Generic Brand Network: Rivet Networks has joined your network for the first time".

a) There are no new people or devices in the apartment at the moment.

b) I don't know what this is.

c) How is it able to join the network?

Note:  I have an existing, unresolved posting ("Why do I keep getting these alerts") about continuously getting alerts that a device has joined for the first time when the device(s) in question have joined many, many times.

Thank you for any assistance.

Note: This comment was created from a merged conversation originally titled Rivet Networks has joined my Wifi alert

Great question I get those notifications too and sometimes they're really late coming. One way to resolve that issue is jump on the awesome Xfinity app click on the device and assign that device to a person. Generally that clears up the notifications being sent for new devices being connected
