You can't split the combined bands if you are using their pods. They will only function with the bands being combined.

@user_9d7a10 - Thank you for reaching out to our forums for assistance with how to split your Wi-Fi into dual bands. Pods require that you only have one Wi-Fi network name and password. This allows all your devices to seamlessly connect to the network that will provide the best Wi-Fi signal at any given time.

For xFi Advanced Gateways)XB6 or newer) most of these gateways have been upgraded with software that manages advanced Wi-Fi settings automatically to help optimize your home network and provide the best performance possible. Advanced Wi-Fi settings for gateways with this software enhancement are not visible and cannot be managed from the Admin Tool or Xfinity xFi.

However, if you have a 1st Generation xFi Gateway and no xFi Pods on your network, you can manage your advanced Wi-Fi settings using the Xfinity app.

How do I attain a split band if I have an Advanced Gateway? I have a speaker system that requires a 2.4 GHz band - is there no way for me to connect this system to the wifi?

If you are using a Comcast rented gateway device, this may or may not apply anymore as a lot of features / functionality have / has been disabled.. YMMV.

If you are not using any Xfi Pods, you can try separating the combined 2.4 and the 5.0 bands and give them two different broadcast names / SSID's;

Associate the speaker system with the new 2.4 SSID (broadcast name) and password.

Hello, @user_77kjas! Were you able to take a look at @EG's reply so you can connect the speaker system? Did that resolve the problem?

There is also a way to keep the bands connected and connect the speaker. You can find the steps on our website. If you have an XB8 modem you would also need to take the steps below to disable/re-enable the 6 GHz network at the same time you do the 5 GHz network. Only the 2.4 GHz network should be active when connecting the speakers.

  1. From a computer or device connected to the Gateway, open an internet browser and access the Admin Tool at http://10.0.0.1.
  2. Once logged in, select Connection and then Wi-Fi.
  3. Select EDIT at the end of the row for the 5 GHz Frequency Band.
  4. Select Disable and then SAVE SETTINGS.
  5. Complete set up of the WiFi device using the device’s app
  6. Go back into the Admin Tool and re-enable the 5 GHz band. It’s important that customers re-enable the 5 GHz band to keep their WiFi network functioning optimally. Furthermore, for customers with xFi Pods, the pods will remain offline until both bands are enabled.
