Why are we not allowed multiple networks

Very upset and aggravated at Comcast. Your rented routers don’t let us have more than one network, yet your parental controls stink. Tired of having to change the passwords in every device when I take my teenager’s internet so I wanted to have a network just for my echo, wifi smart bulbs etc so I did not have to change 6+ devices often.

apparently y’all don’t allow this on rented devices the good news is, this is the motivation I needed to go ahead and research and buy my own router.

but not allowing this is dumb!

Yeah, I hear your frustration!

Time to ditch the rented Comcast consumer-grade hardware and get a real router/firewall...

I've been using pfSense for my router/firewall and am able to segment and control the LAN networks as I see fit.

Hi, I understand your frustration as at this time our rented modem consists of access to one network. I love that our customers have the option to rent modems for their internet service or bring their own that is compatible with their internet speed.

  1. Before buying your own equipment, use the My Device Info website to easily check if your device is approved for Xfinity Internet and/or Voice service.
  2. My Device Info shows a database of all approved cable modems. You can also use this site to make sure your modem or router supports your selected internet speed tier.
  3. After checking this website for approved retail devices, visit xfinity.com/learn/offers for up-to-date information on the internet speeds and other offers available in your area.
  4.
