Why are the upload speeds so terrible?

Ok so I used to be on the 200down/5up plan (which previously did way more upload, thanks), but I cant stream with 5mbps up, need at LEAST a stable 10. So I called comcast and they made me put in a new XB6 Modem, and upgrade my service to a 600down/15up plan, but guess what? I get the 600 down, but I STILL only get 5-7 up. Like come on, why? I get you're throttling the internet to make us pay more, but can we at least get what we're paying for? Last year I had no issues streaming because I was getting 20 up, now I can't do anything.

Yes ive called, yes ive had techs come out, yes i've restarted the modem, yes im on ethernet connection. This all started this year and its just getting worse.

Is there realy nothing I can do?

This doesn't sound like a super big problem. Why do you need fast upload speeds to stream video? I have a Technicolor XB6 router with a Broadcom chip. I'm getting 5mbps uploads and around 550mbps download speeds. I can stream 4K uncompressed video with 5.1 channel Dolby Digital Plus audio just fine with no buffering.

If you don't know what you're talking about you shouldn't post....  You're completely lost, he's not trying to do w/e it is you're even talking about....

He streams content on the internet.  He needs a stable upload up that's fast enough to accommodate that.  He's frustrated because he's not getting what he's paying for, even worse he DID work in the past but it's gotten progressively worse.

What's likely happened since covid is has started THIS year, is more people are using more internet bandwidth than before since Comcast is notorious for overselling their nodes without upgrading their equipment.

Admittedly the equipment is quite expensive, none the less that's what they are paid for and they routinely neglect their obligations.

It's no mystery why they are one of the worse rated companies on the planet.

Comcast isn't throttling anything. The issue, as inferred earlier, is that more and more people are working from home and it's straining upload bandwidth in particular. I've seen my speeds drop some as well, but as I'm on gigabit (1000/35),  I'm not impacted as much as most customers are.  I'm still able to host teleconference meets and video chat easily, even if my wife is doing the same thing from the other side of the house.

OK, notwithstanding what I've written above, the first thing you should do is review the troubleshooting steps outlined in Internet Troubleshooting Tips , and if you need more help, please post your modem/gateway stats as outlined in that article and we can take a look at them.
