Which is most accurate Internet speed test site?
My Xfinity Internet plan is currently supposed to be 400 Mpbs. That's overkill for us and I'm looking to downgrade, but first I want to see what we're really getting. I tried four different sites and they vary widely, from 75 Mbps to 250 Mbps. And they're all fairly consistent within themselves when running multiple tests. Here are my results:
Xfinity's speed test: 180 Mbps
Fast.com: 250 Mbps
OOKLA (speedtest.net): 85 Mbps
Spectrum.com: 70 Mbps
So is there a reliable Internet speed test out there? I'm wondering why I'm paying for 400 Mbps, but Xfinity says I'm getting half that.

Install this desktop app for testing speeds. It is not browser-based so it inherently should be more accurate. I've been using it for a few years and I trust its results implicitly !

@Irony58
P.S. when testing, use a hardwired ethernet connection. Don't use WiFi. It has too many variables.
