What is this Arris device that just randomly connected to my network?

Interesting the sudden appearance of unfamiliar device. Arris is brand of gateway so first question would be what type cable modem do you have?

 Second question would be what does the Xfi page say as far as connected devices. The following link provides nice compact efficient overview of the home network - https://internet.xfinity.com/connect

Lastly, where did notification appear? Mobile device, pop up, notification from somewhere? Without additional details its not possible to understand what may be causing the issue. Also it could be some fake pop up as well which is probably not the case but you never know.

 And remember, you can always chat up the Xfinity customer service agent via the "chat with xfinity customer service" link.

I just woke up this morning and there was a notice on my cell phone that an ARRIS device is now connected to my network. The notice was about the same time my Xfinity usually does it's update. Could this be related, no equipment has change physically.
