What does a technician do in a visit to increase upload speeds

I recently was offered an upgrade to my Xfinity gateway, which I received and installed.  (It looked just like the old gateway, but I assume it's different.)

Now I received an email:

Faster upload speeds at no additional cost are just a step away
Schedule a technician visit to make your home compatible

What does the technician have to do when he comes out to my house that affects the speed?

Same thing happened to me. We scheduled the appointment, the technician came out and I honestly have no idea what was actually done. He went down in our crawl space looking for some wire..I don't notice anything different with our home network internet speed. So yeah

Hi there, @ComplianceNotScience Thank you for taking the time by reaching out to us with your question, which is a really good question. You came to the right place to get assistance. When the technician is at your residence, they make sure that your wiring can support the upgraded speed and that you are getting a good and stable connection.-Richard
