What do you suggest as the best replacement for my old Netgear modem router?

Netgear will no longer provide firmware updates for my Netgear AC1900 WiFi Cable Modem Router for Xfinity Internet & Voice (CV100V) after 7/31/25.

I prefer to buy my own modem/router/voice equipment.   Netgear suggests I buy TWO pieces of equipment as replacements for my current one: Nighthawk Multi-Gig 2.5Gbps Cable Modem for Xfinity Voice AND Nighthawk WiFi 7 Router RS300.

The Comcast/Xfinity website doesn't even list the two Nighthawk items on their list of compatible equipment, so I'm looking for another suggestion from Xfinity customers.

Under "other modems" on Xfinity's list, it looks like Motorola MT7711 works with all three of my Xfinity services, but I think the MT7711 may be just as old as my Netgear equipment.

Any ideas?  Thank you.

The concern is not "Home Security Devices And Equipment" help related........... Topic moved here to the proper help section for assistance.

Thank you for moving it.  I guess I didn't realize Home Network meant Security Netork.

The Netgear 2050V cable modem is indeed listed as compatible. See this;

https://www.xfinity.com/support/internet/customerowned

Scroll down to "Compatible modems for enhanced speeds" / Netgear.

They don't certify standalone routers. That's why the Nighthawk WiFi 7 Router RS300 is not listed. You can use any retail-purchased standalone router that you wish.

Hi, EG,

Right now, I subscribe from Comcast what used to be called "triple play," i.e., TV, phone, and internet.

Am I understanding this right that the Netgear CM2050V (cable modem) is for my phone and TV?  Then the router will enable me to have a LAN so that my computers and iPad can get on the internet?

My TV is connected to Comcast through the wall connector.  Will the apps on my smart TV still be able to stream content from the web?

Thank you for taking the time to explain this to me.

Hello, @user_70kuyb thank you for taking time to create a post here over Xfinity Forums. I understand wanting to get some recommendations for owned modems, and wanted to see if you saw the reply and certified equipment list from our awesome forums expert @EG

From experience, when I'm going over certified owned modems with customers, it's best to confirm if they're in an enhanced network area as they'll need a modem listed out of that section to receive higher upload speeds. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
