Want to disconnect our Linksys Router and use our XB7 as modem and router
There is lots of documentation on connecting your own router, but I can't find any on disconnecting one's router. Can someone tell me the steps to discontinue using our own router and use only the xb7 as modem and router? I know we will have to turn off Bridge Mode on the xb7.
We are using our own router simply as a "carry over" from an old Xfinity wireless gateway. We simply kept the old settings when we upgraded and kept our own router. Is there a good reason to have our own router? The Linksys is getting old in router years and is probably affecting performance somehow.
And most importantly, if we rename the xb7 bands to match the name of our current Lynksys router then disconnect the Lynksys, will we still need to reconnect all of our devices to the xb7? Or will the devices recognize the name and connect? That seems too good to be true.

Thank you for reaching out over Xfinity Forums @User_3278ML. I appreciate the detailed post. It is awesome, you would like to use the XB7 as both your modem and router. I like to say that having only one piece of equipment eliminates a lot of extra troubleshooting if something does go wrong. That, and it is a little easier to manage.
You have some great questions! First, you will need to take the modem out of bridge. This is done easily. I have this link that will walk you through step by step https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/wireless-gateway-enable-disable-bridge-mode. Now since you are no longer in bridge, you can use the App to change your username and password. This link will walk you through the many options we provide to change the network information https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/view-change-wifi-password. Here is the cool part, if you use the same network name and password, everything should auto connect!
I will be on standby to help further if needed. Once again, thank you for being a part of our community and a loyal Comcast customer.

It took us awhile to get around to this. Easy to do and everything is in the process of connecting. Thank you!
