Using separate 'Data' & 'Voice' modems! Possible?

Quite some time ago an Xfinity Technician suggested I might actually use 2 modems. I never did that because I seemed to do well with my provisioned speed and the TM822G I have. I actually still do well. If I could do this I'd like a later data modem likely 3.0 or 3.1 and maintain the TM822G for voice. I've a Xfinity supplied  EV01-5-U/U distribution block. Can I do this and just use a seperate port for voice or data  or maybe just a splitter OR WHAT?

Since the TEXT feature has been removed from Voice I might likely at contract end eliminate voice and only use data.

You meant WEREN'T?????

It seems that it wasn't that long ago that it was suggested! Might they just 'rather not' and like all personal purchases there's no commitment to support anyway?

Comcast provisioned my Arris SB8200 for internet and I retained the 822 for VOIP.
