Uprgrading from 200Mbps to 1Gbps: Trouble with modem - no connection
Hey folks,
I have been on a 200Mbps Xfinity plan for a while. I was using a 3rd part modem - SB6190. I recently switched Xfinity plan from 200Mbps to 1Gbps, and noticed that the SB6190 plan is not compatible with a 1Gbps plan. So I bought a new modem -- the SB8200. I was hoping simply switching the modems (swapping out the Cat5 cable and the ethernet cable to my Google Wifi) would be sufficient.
However, when I did the switch, all the modem lights are as expected but there's no Internet connection at all. Neither the Google Wifi nor a direction connection produces any internet connection. One possibility is that the model is busted. But is it also possible that the modem is fine but I need to contact Xfinity for this 3rd party model -> a different 3rd party model switch?
In other words, does Xfinity need to do anything on their side to support my switch from SB6190 to SB8200?

Did you call 800-COMCAST or 800-XFINITY to activate the new modem and its MAC ID? Another number I have kept for Device Activation is 855-652-3446.
