Upload Speed

I have received a few emails now from Xfinity stating "Good news - You can now enjoy up to 5-10x faster upload speeds and smoother connections with your current Xfinity Internet package".  It goes on to state that "Your internet equipment is unable to deliver these new speeds, but here’s a list of compatible devices to purchase:".  As directed by these emails, I purchased one of the listed modems and activated it.  Once activated, I ran a speed test that showed I was receiving almost the exact same speeds as before.  I then spent an hour with Xfinity chat running through some troubleshooting steps and then was told that they would have the "Advanced Repair Team" contact me shortly.  It has been a few days and I have not been contacted.

To summarize, Xfinity emailed me to say that if I purchased one of the listed modems, that under my current plan I would received "5-10x faster upload speeds".  I purchased and see no increase in upload speeds.  What do I need to do?

Old modem - Motorola MB8611

New Modem - Hitron Technologies CODA56

Thanks for any assistance!

... I purchased and see no increase in upload speeds. ... CODA56 ...

There are additional requirements for higher upload speeds besides having an approved device, see https://www.reddit.com/r/Comcast_Xfinity/wiki/knowledgebase/next-generation-internet/ and https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/upgraded-areas-leased-equipment-required-for-upload-speeds.

I received the same email as well and bought the coda 56 modem. I did indeed see an increase on my upload speeds. My old modem was also a DOCSIS 3.1 that offered multi-gig but I could not get a very good upload speeds after changing to the coda 56. My upload speed increased by maybe five to seven times. I'm on the 1gb/s plan. Hope this helps

Thanks for the info.  Based on the links, I meet all of the requirements for the higher speeds.  I have received multiple notifications that I live in an upgraded area (West Division - Colorado Springs), I purchased the correct modem per the link provided and the email, and I have a compatible Xfinity internet package per the email.  Am I missing something?

So after chatting with several Xfinity customer service agents, it sounds like I'll have to upgrade to current speed tier because I'm currently on a legacy tier.  No one I've spoke to will acknowledge the fact that they are sending emails to customers directing them buy expensive equipment with the promise of faster upload speeds on their current plan, and then telling those customers that they have to upgrade to a one of their newer speed tiers and completely disregarding the email?  I'm looking through the Xfinity forums and I'm far from the only one.

I got the same email. I rent my equipment from Xfinity so thankfully I didn't buy it although that was an option they had. I have been having the worst issues with dropping internet, even my tv channels go in and out and get all pixelated or freeze, I have less coverage area then I did with my other router, and even my xfinity mobile service has been acting up. It wont let me online most of the time unless I'm connected to WiFi even if its the very first day of my mobile plan. I have not returned my old router yet and I'm thinking I'm going to bring back this new [Edited: Language] one that would force me to have to get Pods and to upgrade my package to a higher tier. This is the worst.

I'm sorry to hear about your service concerns, @user_ff08a7. This is not the experience we would like you to have. To confirm, have you completed any troubleshooting steps so far? Such as restarting the modem manually or through the Xfinity App?
