Upload speed dropping very low

I have tried different cables, this problem happens on multiple devices. I had a tech come out already, and he said there is a 500 upload going to the cable. I can only get around 50 to any device, and the plan says 117 average. Under a test, it goes to 90, and will rapidly drop to 10-50. I have also tried replacing the router.

Thank you for your feedback and for joining us here on the Forums. We appreciate you taking the time to troubleshoot and share the details of what you've already tried. Testing with different cables, multiple devices, and even replacing the equipment are all excellent troubleshooting steps, so thank you for working through those. I also see you mentioned an Xfinity technician visited and reported that 500 Mbps upload speeds were reaching the cable line. At that time, was it determined that there were no issues with the upload signal coming into the home?

To help us better understand what's happening, could you let us know:

What devices you're using to test the upload speeds
What specific online activities or applications are being impacted
What upload speeds you're currently seeing
Which Xfinity Internet speed tier you're subscribed to

With a bit more information, we'll be happy to take a closer look and help get to the bottom of this.

I tested the speed on my phone and a desktop computer.

There is packet loss on upload, gaming is the main apps im seeing a problem in.
As of 3:32pm EDT I ran a speed test and got 13mbps.

I am subscribed to the 500 download tier.
The tech stated that there was no problem with the cable to the router.

Thank you for elaborating. Upload speeds depend on both network availability at your address, the service plan you subscribe to, and equipment. To help narrow this down, can you confirm the upload speed included with your current plan, whether next-generation network construction has been completed at your address, and if you're enrolled in one of our newer service plans? Are you using a Xfinity Gateway or your own equipment?

The upload speed on the plan states that it should be 117, the next-gen network construction has not been completed at my address, and I am using an Xfinity gateway XB8. I recently came off a promotional plan, and so that could be considered a new service plan.

Thank you for taking the time to go through all of these checks with me. Not only does it help us troubleshoot your concerns, but it may also help other readers who are researching upload speed availability in their area. If next-generation network construction has not yet been completed at your address, upload speeds may be limited to around 35 Mbps, as the faster upload speeds are typically available in areas where those network upgrades have been completed.

I'd like to take a closer look at your address and account details so we can confirm everything with 100% accuracy. Let's review it together and make sure you're getting the speeds available for your location and plan. Please send us a Direct Message.
