Upgrading question
I am currently on the 200mbps plan with an Arris SB8200 modem and NetGear Nighthawk AX5400 (XR1000) router and I am looking to upgrade to the 1200mbps plan. Would this modem be compatible with the Xfinity 1200mbps plan?

That is theoretically true. You won't get the full 1000 Mbps or 1200 Mbps with your current modem because it only has a 1000 Mbps / gigabit ethernet port, so you would get a max of about 940 Mbps with it due to the ethernet overhead that is ever-present. Whereas, the CM2000 has a 2.5 Gbps port so theoretically you should get the full 1200 Mbps and possibly more due to their 20 percent speed over-provisioning.
It all depends on what you will be happy with. Spending even more money for a new device, or settling for what you already have.

Yes but your current Arris SB8200 modem already is DOCSIS 3.1 / gigabit speed compatible.

Yes I know but when I try to upgrade my plan online via Xfinity it tells me that it will not work with 1.2gbps as it only goes up to 1gbps.. I was wondering if I really needed to upgrade to another modem as this one is not that old. I think that I got it last year.. If I will not necessarily have to purchase another modem I would rather not but if you think that the one that I have now is compatible and will work then please advise. Thanks in advance.
