Upgraded service still only getting 1 gb speed. I need an Xfinity ck to see if the change has gone through?

rcknrog11 Hello there! We appreciate you reaching out to our Xfinity Forums regarding your internet speed. I can absolutely check on the recent change. Before we check on your services, may I ask if you have tried any troubleshooting steps on your end? Are you only getting 1 GB speed on all your devices?

I’m figuring out a way to check this out. I have a lot of Wi-Fi devices, I have an old Mac computer that’s hardwired from the router and it’s only achieving 950 megabytes.

What is the exact make and model number of the "router" ?

Dang it! I see now that my ethernet ports are causing the problem. I’m reading my ethernet ports are limited to one gig.  It looks like. I didn’t research everything properly. I’m using a Orbi CBR 750. my Mac computer is achieving about 950 MB download. I guess there’s no reason for me to continue my 2 GB service huh??🤔

Yep. There it is. It has only gigabit Ethernet ports. You'll get only 940-950 Mbps due to the inherent Ethernet overhead. So either downgrade your speed tier or upgrade your gateway device. Good luck !

Orbi CBR 750

but when I checked the router speed, I don’t think I see two gigs coming in of course I’m not text savvy so when I do a speed check using the app for Orbi It shows only 1100 MB download and 300 upload.

do you see any advantage for my sticking with the 2 GB service being that this is all brand new equipment? I just installed.

It's your decision if it's worth saving money by going to a slower speed tier.
