Unbearable packet loss & lag in FFXIV
Hi!
I have been experiencing very severe lag/packet loss on Final Fantasy XIV. I have read online that this has historically been an issue with Xfinity and FFXIV servers. I haven't been able to figure out if this is an Xfinity issue or a FFXIV issue - I have included a ping pointer screenshot below... Can you please tell me if this is ISP related or game related? I play on a wired connection.

Any help would be enormously appreciated as not even a VPN can help me.

It looks like traffic congestion in the backbone transit routers and at the web host too in the earlier plot. It's beyond the Comcast routing.

There is a small amount of packet loss in the backbone transit provider's webspace (us.bb.gin.ntt.net), and a large amount at the web host's webspace (NTT America). We need to see the first 4 hops. Please post the entire trace output.

Please see the following... this is from a different time but it shows the first four hops. https://imgur.com/a/HLIjHXp

A VPN connection may circumvent the congested transit routers but it won't help with any congestion at the web host / game servers. That is where the greater amount of packet loss was being shown in your first plot pic.

The only thing that you can do is to complain to them.

I recently made a post some while ago wondering what was going on with the ping on a videogame that I play. The problem has unfortunately persisted and VPNs have not helped any.
The issues only seem to happen at my residence. My mother (who lives about ten minutes away) has Xfinity as well and the same plan, but I haven't experienced any packet loss, lag, or high ping when connecting using her network. When I used PingPlotter at her residence the information I received looked very much the same. So I'm not sure it's a FFXIV issue anymore.
Moreover, this issue happened incredibly suddenly. Prior to this I had no issues with Xfinity. I use a wired connection plugged in directly to the router. My mother had a combination modem/router from Xfinity.
Does anybody know what's going on? Please help!
