Unable to view videos on X: tracert shows a loop in the routing

This problem comes up, goes away, then recurs.  When attempting to view videos on x.com it sometimes doesn't load. I managed to get a tracert from the network and I see the following:

Here are the tracert problem: tracert video.twimg.com

Dangerdad137  Thank you for reaching out! I would recommend going through the following How to Troubleshoot Your Xfinity Internet and WiFi connection post to ensure everything is working well with your Xfinity Internet connection.

@XfinityMartyR The tracert specifically shows a loop in the comcast.net backend. There is nothing I can do on my end.

Using a VPN, or my 5G phone connection I do not encounter this problem because I'm not routing through the comcast backend.

My inlaws are encountering this same problem, and they're solving it by switching to race.com.

I escalated through an agent and he confirmed it was the backend. It is still not resolved as of today.

Dangerdad137 Thanks for those details. I can understand why this is frustrating, especially if you've already worked with another agent and were told the issue was on the backend. How long ago was the escalation submitted? If you have a ticket or case number, could you share that as well? Also, are you still seeing the same traceroute results today, or has anything changed since the escalation was opened? That information will help us better understand the current status and next steps.

@Dangerdad137 Don't post that requested info here on these public forums. It's considered to be private information and it would be a violation of their guidelines. Send them a private direct message instead. Here's how;

To send a direct message (private message);

Click "Sign In" if necessary.

Click the "Direct Message" icon  in the upper right corner.

Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon.

The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there.

As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list.

An "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line.

Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window.

Press the "Enter" key on your keyboard to send it.

@XfinityChristy The problem has gotten worse. Yesterday I was unable to access a microsoft.com URL I needed to download an update for VSCode. I reached out again to an agent through the chat interface. I was told it would be worked on, but I only have the chat history, not a ticket # or anything.

We are also having the same video issue with X.com on all our devices, when on our Xfinity Wifi. It’s intermittent like you said. When it does happen we switch off wifi on our phones and everything works fine.

Wow. Hadn’t done the dns change yet, but note my Route trace is showing this Fresno location over and over and over. Upon rerun of it, it went back to the Sacramento location you had listed…
