@Hg80

Thanks for reaching out to us I understand how important it is to be able to access the websites you need to go through

I recommend clearing your caches and cookies or even trying a different Internet browser, as I am a customer and work from home and I clicked on that site and I had no problem going to it

Give clearing your cache cookie try  or even trying to go to Google Chrome or safari or Firefox to see if you were able to access that website

Your packets are making it out beyond Comcast webspace to a provider named Nine Internet Solutions AG in Switzerland. You need to get in contact with them about this. Your Comcast assigned WAN / public IP address has likely been blacklisted for some reason and is being blocked. Good luck !

@EG I have submitted a contact form. I don't have high hopes they will care.

If you can't figure it out with them, a last resort would be signing up for a public VPN service and connecting to that and then loading the page, which would give you a new IP that (hopefully) isn't blocked.

train_wreck we can help you remove the owned modem from your account! Just send us a DM. You can use the Direct Messaging icon at the top of the page to send your name and service address to "Xfinity Support." It's next to the bell icon on the right side of the page.

@train_wreck One never knows what end point addy that they will wind up with...

Of course. But it is an option, and if the problem is truly that the user's Comcast IP is blocked, having a different IP could possibly alleviate this.

FWIW, the web page in question loads fine for me here.

EDIT i just noticed that the OP says it works when connected to VPN. I think the IP being blocked at the website's end is the most likely scenario.

How can I get a different public IP address assigned to my modem?

Hello, @Hg80. Unfortunately, we don't have an option to change your IP address. The only option we have would be to release or renew your IP address. Here's a helpful step by step video on how to do that.

@XfinityGabby I can't reach that video. "kb-resources.cable.comcast.com" doesn't resolve to an IP address for me. I use cloudflare DNS with google as a backup.

@XfinityGabby  @Hg80

FYI. Doing that on a computer / device that is connected to a stand-alone router or a combo modem / router gateway device will only serve to renew / change the LAN / private IP address that is assigned to a computer / device by the router's built-in DHCP server. It will not renew the WAN / public IP address that is assigned to the router by Comcast's / system / DHCP server.

Thank you for trying, and we are sorry the video is not working for you. Let's give them some time to respond to your contact request to the Web Host to see if they can resolve the issue or figure out why you were blocked. @EG Also gave you some excellent resources like CSA Team, we would also recommend reaching out to them as well.

Have you heard anything from that web host yet ? You can also try contacting this team about it. They handle blocking issues;

Comcast Customer Security Assurance. You can contact them online using the link below;

https://spa.xfinity.com/?linkId=130556429

https://comca.st/3C2771k which will take you to the general overview page. From there, you will then navigate over to the "Report a blocked website" button. You will then find the section and tool you need.

Or call them at 1-888-565-4329 or 1-800-934-6489 and ask for a transfer to them directly.

Business Hours: 6:00am - 2:00am EST, 7 days a week. I wouldn't hold my breath with this method either.

Good luck !

@EG I received an automated confirmation from the web host acknowledging my request. It is the weekend, though, so I'll give a few business days for a human to respond.

Same for the Comcast customer assurance team.

Received a response from the emacswiki.org site owner:

Emacs Wiki currently blocks a long list of networks at the firewall level. You can read more about this on this page: https://www.emacswiki.org/emacs/2024-09-16

Some Comcast IP numbers were also involved, so at the time I banned 76.128.0.0/11 76.96.0.0/11 76.118.0.0/15. Given your email, I've unblocked 76.118.0.0/15. I'll reinstate the block as soon as the unwanted traffic resumes, however.

Cheers
Alex

Well, mystery solved. Reading that link, they say they 40 request in, based on the graph, approximately 60 seconds. That.... doesn't seem like very much to me. I suppose maybe they have very limited bandwidth.

If your router supports MAC cloning, try it as mentioned above to obtain a different public IP. I managed to get myself unblocked with a new IP.

@Hg80 You can report a blocked webpage using this form to inform our Customer Security Assurance team. It will have you provide the webpage, your email address, and any comments you would like to leave for that team. They will be able to provide you with a resolution to that webpage being blocked!

FWIW. Please reread this thread, They stated that they did do MAC cloning and they obtained a new IP. They are being blocked internally by the site admin / web master.
