UDP packets being filtered by TG3482G

Hi,

We are having a serious problem with xfinity and theTG3482G filtering our VPN sessions.

After several days of investigation we have traced it down to keepalive packets not being delivered by the TG3482G on the xfinity network, causing the VPN to drop and reconnect.   This is only with the TG3482G on the xfinity network, other models of Modems running on the xfinity network do not have this problem.

The TG3482G can be in bridge mode or router mode, there is no difference.   This is also a more recent situaion probably not going back more than a month or two.

It should be noted, that this is global we have reached our to over 20 xfinity sites that have the TG3482G on xfinity and they all have the same exact problem on the VPN software.  We even swaped out a problem endpoint with a motorola modem and it fixed the problem.

How do we find out if its some sort of xfinity packet filter related to this model modem?

I hope there is a way to get an answer, since it is impacting many customers.

Thanks,

M

Having the same issue going back 2 months.  The modem gets into a state that all UDP transmittion packets seem to fail being sent needing a modem reboot.  This is effecting everything from VPN, VoIP and video games.

 Any help Comcast?

I think my issue is slightly different, as its only a specifc type of UDP packet, and reboot does not help and it affects any comcast endpoint with a TG3482G

Turns out this is a puma6 chipset issue.   These modems that are based on puma6 will have packet loss and other poor internet issues.

using a non puma6 chipset modem fixes this and other problems
