Turned off public hot spot, internet issues appeared

i turned off the xfinity public hotspot for my modem. I turned it off from the website, and a notification popped saying it would take 24 hours to complete the request. 24 hours later i now have internet issue. I can stream videos ( netflix,amazon,disney+) on my Xbox but i can no longer play online games. I keep getting disconnected from their servers ( happens on halo, apex, cod) and can't play more than 30 seconds before i get kicked. After an hour on the phone I was told ," outtages in my area". So, do i need to keep the public wifi on to maintain uninterrupted service? If it's not that , what else could i be doing wrong?
