The thermostat did not acknowledge the changes submitted at ... Comcast issue?

Recently I have been having issues that I believe(?) are related to apps, smart IOT devices and web pages that control my Honeywell thermostat timing out before they connect with server that send the thermostat its commands. I have been getting error messages (CHANGE FAILURE NOTIFICATION) "The thermostat did not acknowledge the changes submitted at ..."

I have been a Comcast customer for about 18 months and have only seen this issue a few times but recently it has been happening a few times a day.

I am wondering if the Comcast DNS server is causing the delays?

This started in the month of Dec 2024, In response I installed a new xfinity XB8 modem to see if this might change anything, the error message occurrences have decreased but they are still happening...

I'm not trying to blame anyone, I just need to fix the issue, could this be an issue with Comcast's DNS servers?

If I use my own Modem / Router can I get away from being forced to use the Comcast DNS Server?

Thanks!

Please send us a private message with your full name, business name, full address, and phone number. By clicking the "message" icon in the upper right page of our forum page. Once you click on that, input our shared handle (Comcast Business) to send us a private message.

• Click "Sign In" if necessary
• Click the "Direct Message" icon in the top right corner
• Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
• The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Comcast Business" there
• - As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Comcast Business" from that list
• - An "Comcast Business" graphic replaces the "To:" line
• Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
• Press Enter to send it
