I think this is supposed to be some kind of filter or offer some kind of protection from surges, maybe from voltage caused by lightning in the area.
Had an appointment with a technition, but they cancelled on me.
They called earlier and said they see my modem do I still need assistance, I said Yes, still need a technition to look at this bypassed connetor.
but I got a message later saying my appointment was cancelled.
If I try to reschedule, I get the "Lets trouble Shoot" automated message. I don't need to trouble shoot, I found the problem. I need someone to come change this defective connector because right now I have no surge protection.
I miss the days when you could actually call someone and explain the issue.

That is the grounding block (demarcation point) between your premise's wiring / hardware and the Comcast system / cable plant. It looks like it may be damaged / corroded from water infiltration. It is they who supply that part and they who are responsible to maintain / replace it.
I'm going to escalate your issue to the Comcast corporate employees that are available to these boards. You should get a reply here in your topic. Good luck !
So just before the internet started having issues, I confirmed that Xfinity was doing some maintenance. Whatever they did, it must have either slightly lowered the signal strength or changed the frequency. I deduced that the coaxial ground block I sent a picture of was part of the installation of the satellite dish mounted on my roof and designed to be used with the amplifier. The Satellite dish was not connected.
You should let a CC tech replace that ground block for free. They can also ensure that the system is correctly grounded / bonded to the electrical system according to local electrical codes.
