Terrible jitter over the past two weeks
I live in a suburb and in late December there were 2-3 outages that Xfinity sent text alerts to me regarding. Ever since these outages were resolved I've been having terrible jitter with my connection and it only seems to be getting worse (albeit slowly).
My speeds are still great but the quality of my connection has degraded substantially and playing online games is rough. No packet loss according to various speed tests but wild jitter and on a lot of online games, this has made things nearly unplayable.
- I have an XB7 modem set to bridge mode
- The modem is connected to my mikrotik router and from there my devices are connected via ethernet (though I only have my PC/console/raspberry pi)
- I have made 0 changes to my home network since December
- I have power cycled every device for over 30 seconds
- I have changed out cables (I only use CAT5e ethernet cables and RG6 coax cables)
- I have unplugged and re-connected all involved cables, ensuring they are connected fully and securely
- I have tried taking the router out of the equation by direct connecting my PC to my Xfinity modem
None of the above has solved or alleviated any of my issues.
Also: Unsure if this is somehow related since I have oldschool phone service through xfinity as well. But since all of this started happening, my phone situation has had an issue as well. Modem connects the phone jack to the wall and then I have two phones (in the entire house) connected to their own phone jacks elsewhere.
When a phone is not directly connected to the modem itself (direct connecting from the device -> modem, no wall) my phone will say "handset in use" and give no dial tone, just static. It's been very inconvenient.
