Temporarily pause 5g

Hello, I’m trying to connect a video doorbell and need my phone to connect to 2.4ghz. Can I pause my 5g temporarily?

Greetings, @user_h1p1r0! I hope your week has been treating you well. Thanks so much for taking a moment out of your busy day to leave a post on our community forum. I'm sorry to hear you're having issues with your service, but you have definitely come to the right place for assistance.

I've had the same issue trying to connect my smart home devices. If you do not have band-steering enabled, you may not be able to pause the 5 GHz signal, but you can change it to a different network name and log in to just the 2.4 GHz network.

If you do have the same network name on both signals, it can be a little trickier to activate a 2.4 GHz smart home device. The best strategy I've been able to come up with is to walk far enough away from your gateway that the 2.4 GHz signal is stronger than the 5 GHz signal. Then, put your phone in Airplane Mode for a second and take it off again to reconnect your network. If you are far enough away, your phone will connect to the 2.4 GHz signal and allow you to pair the camera without any issues. I have done this so much, I actually have a place in my garage earmarked for device activations.

Please let me know if you are still having issues getting your camera set up. Our amazing community is always ready to help.
