SW upgrade Failed after download Incompatible SW file

I bought my own TG1682G modem and it reboots several times a day.  At very inopportune times.  Looking thru the log I discovered that it is attempting to upgrade the software.  I assume firmware.  This is my error message "SW upgrade Failed after download Incompatible SW file".

Anyone of a solution?

Thanks in advance!

Brian

The TG1682G XB3 xFi Wireless Gateway is a Comcast rental device that is not approved for customer purchase. The units offered for sale are typically unreturned equipment, or stolen. See https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/broadband-gateways-userguides and https://www.xfinity.com/support/devices. I don't think they'll offer you much help with this.

Your best move would be to return the gateway to the seller for refund if possible, and to purchase an approved device.

Where? Searching https://www.xfinity.com/support/devices for "TG1682G", "TG1682", or "1682", the model is not found:

                 Search results for 1682

We didn’t find anything that matched your search.

For contrast, searching that page for "822" returns a link for the Arris TM822G eMTA.
