Sudden enormous increase in data usage

I have experienced a sudden massive increase in data usage over the past two months, going from consistently under 50GB per month to 995GB in February and 1107 GB in March. There are a total of two people in my household. We moved residences in February, but there has been no difference in our internet habits which would cause a 2000% increase in our data usage.

Hello, user_6hz2s9. Thanks for reaching our team on Forums regarding your data concerns. I definitely understand the importance of making sure to look into this. Is there any online gaming or any big downloads?

Do you use any kind of streaming stick?   I have found that my Roku will set the display to the highest resolution possible for your TV.  When I moved the Roku from one TV to another, this reset the display settings from 720p to the maximum speed my TV could handle and we ended up streaming at 4K!  I don't know how other streaming sticks work, but for a Roku, go to Settings > Display and see what setting Roku is using.  Reset as needed.

I have also been a Comcast/Xfinity customer for over 20 years. I got an alert this month that I’ve exceeded my 1225GB plan. Normally it runs between 200-300GB. Judging by the number of complaints I've seen on Xfinity regarding this issue, it looks like I'm not the only one. What's going on?

Log into your router or go into the Xfinity App and see if there are any unfamiliar devices connected to your Wi-Fi.

@Brucech16 in addition to my comments about Rokus and other streaming sticks, if you are renting an Xfinity Modem/router and it's 5 years old, might be time to swap in a new one.   Also, Xfinity now has an unlimited plan you can check out.
