Storm ready WiFi

I saw an older thread from two years ago, talking about device connectivity issues while the storm ready is connected. I am currently still having this issue ever since I bought the unit when it’s plugged in and online devices in the home will automatically connect to it like an extender But when that happens, I start to have connectivity issues with some of those devices. Now I wish there was a way to determine what device can connect to that as an extender and what device to ignore it and just use the modem that would help me out in this situation, but for some reason every time I plug it in I have a device that no matter where it’s at in the house wants to connect to that instead of the XB8 and it always has issues the second I try to use it Super annoying and I can’t find a way around it

Thank you for reaching out to us here @user_1z7m7l. You should be able to control the network settings to customize which devices connect to your network. You can find the information on that through the https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/personalize-customize-hnetwork-xfi site.

You can’t tell a device to not use the storm ready versus the modem in terms of which one it connects to over WiFi

user_1z7m7l, where do you have your Storm Ready Wi-Fi (SRW) placed currently? For best optimization, the Storm-Ready WiFi device should be positioned between five and 30 feet from the Xfinity Gateway.

The storm ready device is maybe 20 feet but it works perfectly fine

the issues is when other devices use it as a extender they have issues connecting to the WiFi all together.

Have you tried to remove the device and then reconnect to the network?
