Sporadic Packet Loss Still Happening

Hi there,

Been recently getting some random bouts of packet loss and seeing my speed  go down as low as 40% of plan speed (should be 1.3 gigs down, 45 megs up). There was recently an episode where this lasted for about 5 hours until I did a power cycle on the router, I have an X8 router via comcast. They recently put a filter on the tap and that seemed to do the trick but this problem keeps creeping back in. Figured I'd cross my t's and dot my i's and ask and see if anything looked out of the ordinary with the router power/signal stuff.

The packet loss is sporadic for the most part but really seems like there's some noise interference for a 20-30 minute bit and it's mostly felt on the upload side of things, here's a screenshot example from pingplotter
Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

beefdip Hello! Thank you for reaching out to us here on our Community Forum. Are you still experiencing intermittent connectivity? Also, if you have not already done so, please power cycle your modem by unplugging it for about 20-30 seconds and then plug it back in.

@XfinityBenjaminM Hi there! thank you for replying! I did do that and it was still occasionally happening after the power cycle. Things have appeared to have leveled out a bit in the last couple days but I'm not necessarily convinced it's fixed just yet as I've been lulled into a false sense of security before, I'll keep an eye on it for the next couple days and post back here if things regress.

beefdip Sure thing! Thank you for doing the power cycle! We have found that it is a reliable fix for some of the more common issues that can happen with a connection. If you still continue to experience any hiccups, please send a Direct Message and include your full name and address. We'll be happy to investigate the signal we are sending you to see if there is anything that sticks out that could be a reason why this continues to happen. Here are instructions on how to DM us if you need them:

 Click "Sign In" if necessary
  • Click the "Direct Message" icon (upper right corner of this page)
  • Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
  • Type "Xfinity Support" in the to line and select "Xfinity Support" from the drop-down list
  • Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
  • Press Enter to send your message
