Splitter Question

Hello - I've been having frequent outages recently but things are OK now except getting intermittent MDD message Timeout.

I currently have a splitter that was originally installed by Xfinity (Commscope SV 3G) but I no longer have cable TV boxes.  Can I just remove this splitter or will that cause other issues when my current signals are OK?

Also, what connector do I need to join the two coaxials without the splitter?

Hello there, @user_sbk131 [Edited username]! Thank you for bringing this question to us through our Forums! To answer your question, you can definitely remove the splitter device, if you have another to replace it with, unless it is no longer needed entirely. This may also provide network traffic relief, and may resolve the issue indefinitely. Can you please let me know if this worked for you, and we will be happy to investigate further, once we move forward with the next troubleshooting steps.

You would use a female to female coupler such as this to join the two lines instead of using a splitter;

https://www.amazon.com/coax-coupler/s?k=coax+coupler

But here is an important question. Are you using MoCA / adapters on your home network ? If so, that MoCA POE (Point Of Entry) filter would need to remain in place in the input line.

@EG  Thanks for the response.   Recently, one of the tech's installed GLF 1002 filter as you can see in the picture.    I am not sure why he didn't remove the splitter like I told him to do.

I apologize for my ignorance but what is MOCA / adapters?   I only have MB8600 modem ---> Asus wifi router -> unmanaged trendnet switch.

O/k so if you don't know what it is, then you don't have it. You can remove that filter too. You can Google for "MoCA" in case you are curious.

OK.  I will try the coupler without the filter and report back.  Thanks
