split into multiple ssids

I have the new xfi gateway that offers 3 bands - 2.4Ghz, 5Ghz and 6Ghz. Can I split into 3 distinct SSIDs? When I try to do this via the xFinity app - even by naming the 3 SSIDs with distinct names and passwords - I get the error - "Something went wrong. These settings couldn't be updated. Please try again later."

I have tried different options including not broadcasting the SSIDs but no different result.

I have even restarted the gateway and attempted the above ...still same result with the same error message.

Couple of things:

If you are using xfinity pods (range extenders), you are locked to WiFi 6 only.  It's also not a true tri-band that can run the radios at all frequencies/802.11 standards at the same time, so take your pick.  802.11b/n (2.4Ghz and 5Ghz) or WiFi 6.  Kind of rare to find 802.11g devices these days.  That never really caught on.

The other common problem is that the app gets wrapped around the axle and won't let you change settings, or won't communicate settings from the app to the gateway.  It's just buggy.  That is just a long term bug they can't or won't fix.

Tri-band gateways that can run a bunch of radios at the same time are kind of spendy.  Cheaper option if you need 2.4Ghz for other things is a really cheap $30 access point (802.11 b/g/n -- sometimes called N300).  Look at the WiFi standards they speak before you buy.  Then just plug the access point into the gateway with an Ethernet cable.  Be warned, a lot of them are PoE (power over Ethernet) and your gateway doesn't do that either, so make sure it comes with a power adapter.

A lot of Ethernet routers have an access point mode (AP mode) you can set.  You may have a dusty one on a shelf somewhere.  If you do, grab the manual for it and see what it can do.
