Split band

I have a XB8-T and need a 2.4GHz Checked in app and there isn’t an option to “pause 5G” nor to rename to 2.4; both of these options I found in the forum and non are an option for me. How I access 2.4??? PLEASE HELP

@user_gnyvi4 thank you for taking the time to reach out to us! Have you attempted any of these steps? Have you been able to split the bands through your Xfinity app or the admin tool?

Use the Gateway Admin Tool

  1. Connect to your home Wi‑Fi.
  2. Open a browser and go to http://10.0.0.1
  3. Log in (default username is usually admin unless changed).
  4. Look for Gateway > Connection > Wi‑Fi or similar wireless settings.
  5. If available, disable band steering and create separate names for the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks. Some XB8 gateways still allow this, while others do not.

Temporarily Force a Device onto 2.4 GHz

If you're setting up a device that only supports 2.4 GHz (smart plug, camera, printer, etc.):

    • Move the device far enough from the gateway that the 5 GHz signal weakens.
    • During setup, many devices will then connect to the 2.4 GHz band automatically.
    • After setup, the device usually stays connected. This is a common workaround when band-splitting is unavailable.
