speak to live person to understand internet promos

My internet promo is coming due. I have 300 speed and am happy with it. Contacted instant chat today. new promo is $55 including one year included mobile. I explained to rep I don't want mobile as I have had Xfinity mobile and was displeased. I then asked for his best price--$55 per month without one year free mobile....??? I always feel scammed through instant chat. Can't I speak to a live person and get a descent promo rate? At this point, I would do a 5 year if it was less money.
