Slower speeds after Xfinity router is connected to Gigabit switch

From the Xfinity router download speeds are 300Mbps but if I connect one of the 4 network ports to a gigabit switch all the connections from the gigabit switch have a max download of 91Mbps. Why does the download speed reduce using another switch?

Are you certain that the switch is gigabit capable ? Are you using a minimum of a cat5e ethernet cable ?

I have the same issue.  A direct connection gives me 945 Mbs, but if I go through a gigaswitch (tp-Link model TL-SG108E) it drops to 54 Mbs.

And yes, the cable is 4 feet long and certified as a CAT 6 cable.  Very strange.
