Slow upload speeds, low SNR

I'm getting low signal levels at my drop. To get TV service without blocking artifacts I have a 20db amplifier just before my only 2-way splitter, one side feeding the TV tuner, the other my Hitron CODA modem. My upload speeds are 40 to 50 Mbps, not the 100Mbps I pay for. Here's the DOCSIS status from the modem. Notably download SNR levels are low and upstream OFDMA is disabled.

What is the exact make and model number of that amplifier ?

Thanks for the response. It's an E-labs bidirectional model 6001A. Return (5-40 Mkz) 0db.  RF Signal (54 - 1000MHz) +20dB.

If I bypass the amplifier I get slightly better upload speeds but then the TV signal is bad enough to create blocking artifacts.

That amp does not have the proper diplex filtering in it to allow the new upstream OFDMA channel that is associated with their new next gen / mid split system to pass through it. And you may want to get a tech out to investigate the issue. There may be noise ingressing into the cable line somewhere and the amp is just making it worse. Garbage in equals even more garbage out. Amps really should not be used. They are only considered to be a last ditch / band-aid fix. The source of the noise ingress and the weak RF signal should be located and fixed properly. Good luck with it !

Thanks. I agree I should not need an amp--it's just a band-aid until I can get the low signal level sorted out. I have a long run from the street. I'll try to get a technician out to help me.

Please post back here with how things turn out, thanks !

Did some more digging today. As EG relates the amplifier in the path disables upstream OFDMA. Somehow this signal is corrupting the TV signal and creating the blocking artifacts on the screen. I know this because simply turning off the modem has the same effect--obviously that disables upstream OFDMA as well, and so the blocking artifacts on the TV go away.

Do I have to choose between a good TV signal and upstream OFDMA? Is there a better way to disable OFDMA than an improper amp?

I have a tech coming on Thursday. Will update here.

Tech just left. We replaced a bunch of cable. Better signal levels and SNR, especially higher in the spectrum.
