Slow speeds and crashes with XB7 Gateway and 800 speed tier

Speeds as low as 20s with our XB7 gateway. If use xfinity app on iphone to restart gateway, restart works sometimes other times gateway crashes and goes off line. Once gateway is restarted, speeds initially 800-900 but hours later go down as low as 70-80. Need help from Comcast support to troubleshoot problem as much as possible before having tech visit. Thanks for your help.

@XfinityVictor

Thanks for the response to my posting. We are using a Xfinity XB7 gateway on the 800 speed tier. We have about 10 devices on our network (IOT, security devices, and streaming TV). We have never reached the 800 speed as measured on the PC in the 5 GHz wireless mode. Our speeds are more usually 300-500 and I have always attributed this, at least partially, to the vintage distribution wiring in our development (1970). As mentioned in my original post, the speeds have recently been all over from 800-900 to the 20s. Also requests to restart the gateway have frequently been met with internet crashes. Since we are not presently at the house, all the speed measurement and gateway restarts have been achieved using the Xfinity app on a iPhone. After my original post, I asked a neighbor to restart the gateway by power recycle of the gateway. He noted that when he did this the light on the gateway cycled through blinking green and blinking yellow, and when he left the house the system still was not up. Later (probably around 2 hours) the system came up and has been up since with speeds back to our usual 300-500 level. For now it looks like we are back to normal but I am holding my breath. Also interesting that a remote gateway restart through the Xfinity app and a power cycle restart at the gateway did not produce the same results.

For now I suggest we do watchful waiting and see if the system remains stable, thanks Doc59
